July News
Hello all, and happy July.
As June, National Safety Month, came to a close, we at Drive reflected on the importance of this issue, and the gratitude we hold for those who choose to work to fix it. I am pleased that the movement has made such strides in recent months and years, and hold closely in my heart those that we are fighting for. Thank you for your continued support.
For updates, we had a busy month meeting with members of Congress, their staff, advocacy groups, and survivors. We continue to push the bipartisan She DRIVES Act forward. As a reminder, Senators Fischer, Blackburn, Murray, and Duckworth introduced S. 4299 to require that the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) test new cars with accurate female dummies equally as men, including in the driver’s seat. To learn more about the bill, check out our one-pager here.
While we are excited about the introduction of the bill, it’s not going to pass itself! Please, if you’re interested in helping end the fatal gender discrimination in car safety testing, consider calling your Senator and urging them to support the She DRIVES Act, or S. 4299. To find your Senator’s contact information, put in your state here. We will be releasing more resources on how to get engaged soon, so please stay tuned.
Thank you, and happy fourth of July.
Warmly,
Maria
