April News
Hello all, and happy April.
It’s been an eventful month here for Drive, and we’re so grateful to have you on our team.
First, Good Morning America. It was my honor to join the program for an interview on my experience as a survivor and activist, and work to bring more national attention to the issue. Thank you GMA, and thank you for tuning in!
Second, University of Pennsylvania. I was fortunate to speak on a panel about women’s health as a regulated issue at Carey Law School – check out the flyer below. This opportunity to engage with law students and experts on regulation affecting women was inspiring, and I am grateful to be included in the conversation.
Third, Fiscal Year 2024 Transportation Appropriations. With the passage of the Transportation, Housing, and Urban Development (THUD) 2024 funding bill on March 9th, we have successfully passed language directing the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration to crash test cars with accurate female dummies in the driver’s seat. The bill language also requires that NHTSA release a roadmap for implementing the female crash test dummy in 90 days; this period ends April 30th. Check out what you can do in the meantime here.
Thank you all for reading this far, and for supporting us in the fight. Until next time!
Warmly,
Maria
